Earlier last year I decided that I wanted to transition from working on commercials and library tracks to work on features and shorts. After a lot of self reflection I decided that a graduate program in screen scoring was the right way to start this new adventure. Today, I am happy to announce that I was admitted to the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music Master of Music in Screen Scoring program as the Alan Silvestri Scholar, an award given annually to the top applicant to the program. I was thrilled to also be admitted to the outstanding screen scoring programs at NYU and the Berklee School of Music, but at the end of the day the prestige and history of the USC program was just too much to say no to. I’ll still be taking on jobs over the next year, but unfortunately I’ll have to be a lot more selective about what I work on given the huge time constraints that come with a rigorous graduate program.
If you want to see a parody video of me making my big announcement like a division one football player you can laugh with (at?) me here:
Talk to you all soon and Fight On!
